Faculty History
Years of student quality, the Faculty of Engineering dates from the beginnings of the Mariano Gálvez University in the year 1,968. The first career of this faculty was Civil Engineering. In its beginnings, the facilities used were the environments of the building of the former School of Nurses of the American Hospital. Then in the year of 1,972 it moved to the current Central Campus. Over the years it has had a remarkable physical infrastructure growth, which includes a set of classroom buildings, such as: faculty administration building, laboratories buildings, library, auditorium and a research institute that strengthens scientific interest of the student.

An important advance for the scientific community, the Research Institute of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (in3) of Mariano Gálvez University from Guatemala, was created in 2,010 with the aim of improving research in the sciences of the engineering. As well as generate basic and applied research that helps the search for truth, the construction of knowledge and the solution of scientific-technological problems. In order to achieve the development of the region and the quality of life of its inhabitants. The in3 is distributed in 5 buildings on the central campus: Central Building, Physlab, Sismolab, building annex to the faculty, and the auditorium. It has highly equipped laboratories for academic and research practices.
