ACI Chapters

Participate with your creativity! This competition provide students the opportunity to represent the Engineering Faculty at a national and international level in different contests. These stimulates applied research, the development of knowledge in the field and encourage creativity. These activities are relevant to understanding the importance of teamwork and the social development of the student.

Concrete Bowling Ball Competition

The competition is organized by ICCG (Instituto del Cemento y del Concreto en Guatemala) in which in each student chapter that wishes to participate must carry out 3 concrete soccer balls, implementing their knowledge in mix design.

Former engineering students graduation

Graduation

Modality

Students must meet the following two forms of graduation:
  • Overall private assessment. Students must choose 1 of the following options:
    1. Make the overall private assessment.
    2. Equivalent in the modality of seminar.
  • Graduation work. Students must choose 1 of the following options:
    1. Megaproject modality.
    2. Graduation work - Thesis.
    3. Exemption modality, have 50% of the total credits of a Master's degree (1 year).


Requirements

Students must fulfill the following requirements:
  • Closed curriculum with all the courses approved.
  • Private General Assessment (or seminar modality) and graduation work.
  • English language according to the level required and approved at the Language School of the Mariano Gálvez University.
  • Professional practice with 1000 hours completed.


Megaproject modality

This is an alternative option to graduation work - thesis. It consists of developing a project applied to the study discipline in a group and/or interdisciplinary way. The megaproject can have its focus on any of the following areas:
  • Conduct scientific research that generates new knowledge or confirms existing knowledge.
  • Carry out transfer and/or technology adoption that promotes the improvement of a process related to Engineering.
  • Engineering projects that promote technological development and have a positive impact on society.
  • The projects can be carried out by no more than 10 students.
  • The groups may be made up of students of the same career or integrated with other careers belonging to the Engineering Faculty.
